I had a Tillandsia bergeri in Malawi of which I couldn't put my arms around it was so big. I had it for twenty years and it's still there. I now have one here in Cyprus, for the last 9 years. Neither of them ever flowered at all. The Cyprus one measures 68 inches in circumference and 38 inches deep. It hangs in a fig tree most of the year but when it gets really cold I bring it inside. They are fascinating plants.

I first saw these trees in april of this year in the city of Mendoza, Argentina. It is the Napa valley of Argentina with a myriad of wineries in the area. This pepper tree was in great abundance ...great color and a lovely weeping willow shape to it. After returning to the bay area I played golf in the Livermore area amongst the vineyards and lo and behold I find the same tree growing here. Similar climates ...makes sense. I gathered a bagful to use in the kitchen. I always prefer to find food in the wild. I assume that all I have to do is to spread them out on a screen to dry for a month or so? Thanks for the info.

A beautiful site! I used to live in Mallorca and now reside in Tenerife and have been very interested in the plant life here on this volcanic island, and as photography is my main hobby I am also considering starting a photo blog.

I have just started a story blog about Mallorca and my life there and would like to include a link to your site if you would permit it.
Thank you.....Sharon (Canarybird)
